CLASS DESCRIPTIONS BALLET Ballet is the foundation of all dance. There are many benefits to studying ballet at all ages and levels. Students who study ballet, in general, have better math grades and study habits; they are more physically fit; have better motor skills and cognitive skills and have more confidence.l In ballet classes, students learn French terminology and technique as well as correct body placement and alignment. Our ballet students develop grace, coordination, poise, muscle toning, good posture, flexibility and a joy for learning. All ballet classes are taught by "Miss Diane" who has a strong background and training in classical ballet. PRESCHOOL COMBINATION CLASSES These introductory dance classes consist of ballet and/or tap or jazz. The ballet portion will introduce basic steps, terminology, placement and technique. The tap portion will also introduce basic tap steps and terminology with an emphasis on musicality and rhythm. The preschool classes are designed to engage the youngest of students in a nurturing, compassionate and friendly environment. Students benefits in many ways by developing the skills needed when entering school, exposure to a classroom environment, and working cooperatively with peers and honing in on listening skills while developing a sense of accomplishment. The emphasis of Art in Motion's Preschool Dance Program is to instill a joy for learning in our youngest students by applauding their efforts and achievements. Positive reinforcement and praise are plentiful. JAZZ/HIP HOP These free style, action packed classes involve basic jazz steps, including stretches, isolations, movement and combinations inspired by all types of music. The classes are upbeat and high energy and cover traditional and modern jazz moves in a structured environment. |
